Ingenious, the leading alternative investment manager that specialises in the Media, Infrastructure, Real Estate and Education sectors, today announces that it has further expanded its institutional funds business with the appointment of Luke Burdess as Business Development Director.

Ingenious, which has been growing its network of relationships in Asia and the Middle East for the last few years, will offer innovative institutional strategies for domestic and global institutions. The team will leverage their deep sector knowledge to access investment opportunities usually unavailable to institutional investors.

Mr Burdess joins from Daiwa SB Investments where he was Business Development Manager in the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands. Prior to that, he was Head of Sales at Newscape Capital Group and Senior Vice President at FRM (which was acquired by Man Group in 2012) where he was responsible for new business development and client relationship management with a focus on UK, Europe and the Middle East. He began his career working in corporate finance at Beeson Gregory.

The announcement follows the board appointments of Jamie Lowe as Managing Director, Institutional Distribution and Will Harrison as Managing Director, Media in the last 12 months. Mr Lowe has 25 years’ experience working in investment banking where he specialised in listed investment companies. Most recently, he was Head of Investment Company Product Development and Management for Aberdeen Standard Investments, where his primary responsibility was to develop the firm’s range of listed investment companies investing in private market assets. He has also worked in senior roles at BNP Paribas, KBC Bank, JP Morgan and Investec Bank.

Mr. Harrison has over 20 years’ operating and investment experience gained across some of the most successful global media companies and joined from Warner Bros where he was Chief Commercial Officer of the Harry Potter Franchise Group. Prior to Warner Bros, he held senior commercial roles at HBO, Walt Disney and Turner Broadcasting.

They will work closely with the Media, Infrastructure, Real Estate and Education divisions to create innovative institutional strategies for domestic and global institutions, leveraging Ingenious’ investment and operating experience in these markets.

Neil Forster, CEO at Ingenious, commented: “We are delighted that Luke, Jamie and Will have joined Ingenious to lead and develop our institutional business. They are highly successful executives who bring a wealth of experience and relationships to the Ingenious team. I am excited to be working with them to deliver on our strategic objective of expanding our institutional funds business across each of our investment sectors. Ingenious has successfully worked with corporates and institutional investors and these appointments enhance our ability to create more opportunities in those channels.”
